CAMM2
CAMM2 is a compression-attached memory module. LPCAMM2 puts LPDDR5X on it as a detachable, upgradeable alternative to soldered memory.
CAMM2, or Compression Attached Memory Module, is a memory module that attaches to the board with a compression connector. LPCAMM2 is the variant built from LPDDR5X low-power DRAM. Samsung calls it detachable, unlike LPDDR soldered to the board, and the first of its kind to meet JEDEC standardization, though Micron's 2025 release says final JEDEC specification publication was still pending. It targets thin laptops and mobile workstations, standing in for soldered LPDDR or a pair of SO-DIMMs.
Micron's LPCAMM2 runs LPDDR5X at up to 9,600 Mb/s. Micron claims 64 percent space savings against a dual-stacked DDR5 SO-DIMM, up to 61 percent less active power, and up to 80 percent less system standby power than DDR5 SO-DIMM. Its retail module, announced September 30, 2025, reaches 8,533 MT/s at up to 64 GB, in a form factor less than half the size of a standard SO-DIMM. Micron lists compatibility with mobile workstations from Lenovo and Dell.
Samsung notes a CAMM2 module is pressed onto the board rather than inserted into a SO-DIMM slot, so the system's memory support list decides which one fits. Pick LPCAMM2 when a laptop or mobile workstation needs LPDDR5X speed with an upgrade path, since soldered LPDDR5X fixes capacity at purchase.
