RTX PRO 6000 Workstation vs Max-Q vs Server Edition
The Workstation Edition runs at 600 W. The Max-Q Edition caps at 300 W. The passive Server Edition is configurable from 400 W to 600 W.
The RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Workstation, Max-Q and Server Editions are NVIDIA's three versions of one professional GPU, each with 96 GB of GDDR7 memory. NVIDIA builds the Workstation Edition for single-GPU desktops, the Max-Q Edition for dense multi-GPU desktops and the passively cooled Server Edition for rack servers. All three use error-correcting code (ECC) memory, four DisplayPort 2.1 outputs and a PCIe Gen 5 x16 interface.
The Workstation Edition draws 600 W through a double flow-through cooler on a 5.4 inch by 12 inch dual-slot card. The Max-Q Workstation Edition halves that to 300 W with an active cooler on a 4.4 inch by 10.5 inch dual-slot card. NVIDIA positions it for up to four per workstation. The Server Edition shares the 4.4 inch by 10.5 inch size, with power configurable from 400 W to 600 W. NVIDIA's MGX reference servers hold eight in 4U, or eight liquid-cooled versions in 6U. Only the Server Edition appears on NVIDIA's virtual GPU (vGPU) supported-hardware lists.
Use the Workstation Edition for a single-card desktop and the Max-Q Edition for two to four cards in one tower. Use the Server Edition in rack servers with chassis airflow, or wherever the GPU must be shared through vGPU.
