DWPD vs TBW
DWPD is how many times a day the whole drive can be rewritten. TBW is the total data written over the rating period. Both measure SSD endurance.
DWPD (drive writes per day) and TBW (terabytes written) are two ratings of the same limit, SSD write endurance. Kioxia defines one drive write per day as rewriting the drive to full capacity once a day for the specified lifetime. TBW, or PBW at petabyte scale, is the total data written over that lifetime. Convert with TBW = DWPD x capacity x 365 x years. A DWPD figure only means something next to its period, and a 3 year figure runs higher than a 5 year one.
Solidigm rates the TLC D7-PS1010 at 1.0 DWPD over 5 years, 28 PBW at 15.36 TB, which is 1.66 DWPD over 3 years. The D7-PS1030 is 3.0 DWPD over 5 years, 70 PBW at 12.8 TB, or 4.98 DWPD over 3 years. Kioxia lists the CD8P-R read intensive drive at 1 DWPD and the CD8P-V mixed use drive at 3 DWPD, each with a 5 year warranty. Solidigm's QLC D5-P5336 is rated 0.42 to 0.60 DWPD over 5 years, or 5.9 to 134.3 PBW.
Compare drives on total written when capacities differ. Divide the workload's daily writes by capacity to get the DWPD needed, and check the rating period matches the warranty.
