NVLink bridge
An NVLink bridge is a physical connector that links two or four PCIe GPUs directly over NVLink, without a baseboard or NVSwitch.
An NVLink bridge is a small physical connector that links two PCIe GPUs, or four on some parts, directly over NVLink instead of through the PCIe slots. It is the add-in-card route to NVLink. The SXM route runs NVLink through a baseboard and NVSwitch. Bridges come in set spacings, and each GPU model lists the bridges it supports.
NVIDIA lists the RTX A6000 with a 2-way NVLink bridge in 2-slot and 3-slot spacings. Two cards reach up to 112 GB/s and a combined 96 GB of GDDR6. The PCIe H100 NVL lists NVLink at 600 GB/s against 128 GB/s for PCIe Gen5. The H200 NVL takes a 2- or 4-way bridge at 900 GB/s per GPU. NVIDIA's RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Workstation Edition datasheet lists a PCIe 5.0 x16 system interface and has no NVLink line.
A bridge caps the NVLink group at two or four cards. Eight GPUs at full speed to each other means an HGX baseboard instead. Confirm the exact card model lists a bridge and that the board's slot spacing matches it, 2-slot or 3-slot.
