OSFP vs QSFP
OSFP is an eight-lane module format with its own cage. QSFP-DD is an eight-lane format in a cage that also takes QSFP modules.
OSFP and QSFP-DD are the two eight-lane pluggable module formats used for 400G and 800G network ports. OSFP is the Octal Small Form Factor Pluggable module, a separate form factor whose standard version has an integrated heatsink. QSFP-DD adds a second row of contacts to the QSFP cage, and its cage accepts earlier QSFP modules. QSFP112 is the cage name NVIDIA lists on some ConnectX-7 adapters.
The OSFP MSA lists 8 lanes at up to 400 Gbps (8x50G), 800 Gbps (8x100G) or 1.6 Tbps (8x200G), with up to 36 ports in a 1U front panel. OSFP-XD has 16 lanes and does not mate with OSFP. QSFP-DD runs eight lanes at 50 Gb/s PAM4, QSFP-DD800 at 100 Gb/s and QSFP-DD1600 at 200 Gb/s. NVIDIA's ConnectX-7 MCX75310AAS-NEAT is a single-port OSFP card at NDR 400 Gb/s or 400GbE. The MCX715105AS-WEAT is a single-port QSFP112 card at the same speeds.
Read the cage type off the adapter part number and the switch port before ordering optics or cables. Treat OSFP and OSFP-XD as separate ports. A QSFP-DD port is the one that also takes QSFP modules. Do not assume an OSFP card and a QSFP112 card of the same speed share a cable.
